One-time supposed potential Ranger Joe Crede has finally signed.  He goes to the Twins on a one year, $2.5 million base, with the potential of making $7 million if he hits all his incentives.

Former O's pitcher Jason Johnson, signed to a minor league deal by the Yanks, has retina cancer.  I didn't know there was such a thing.

Former Reds pitcher and current Nats exec Jose Rijo has taken a "leave of absence" over the Smiley Gonzalez scandal.  I suspect that the "leave of absence" will end up being permanent.

The AP has a story out on Nolan Ryan's impact on the Rangers since coming on as team president.

KSK's "Twenty Five Random Things About Me:  Matt Stafford" made me laugh, which probably means I'm a bad person.

Will Carroll did a chat on Thursday that was pretty good.

The various BTB contributors each vote on the 5 players they think will be the most productive in 2009.  No Rangers make the list.

This comment in a Randy Galloway column earlier this week caught my eye:

It’s always good for a grin to read or hear those who attempt to justify the Kidd-for-Devin Harris transaction as a win for the Mavericks. And that kind of foolishness surfaced repeatedly this week, which was the one-year anniversary of the deal.

Okay, I'm in Houston, so maybe I'm out of the loop, but...he's kidding, right?  Surely there aren't still people calling that trade a good deal for the Mavs, are there?

Seriously...someone needs to have an intervention with Bill Simmons and tell him Adam Carolla isn't funny.  His mancrush on Carolla is even more embarrassing than Peter King's mancrush on Brett Favre.

Jason Isringhausen has signed a minor league deal with the Rays.

Emmitt Smith is supposedly gone from ESPN, and in memorium, Awful Announcing offers their top 10 Emmittisms.
