There was some discussion during the game about why Clay Rapada, of all people, was brought in to face Robinson Cano in the 8th inning, and I suggested that that one matchup may have been why Rapada was put on the ALCS roster.
The Rangers turned to Rapada, idle for the ALDS , to face Robinson Cano. Rapada was added to the roster expressly to face Cano and manager Ron Washington had admitted as much before the game.
I guess the Rangers felt, for whatever reason, that Cano would be particularly vulnerable to a lefty sidearmer. It didn't work tonight, though.
