The Tigers have designated Dontrelle Willis for assignment tonight.
I imagine they'll see if someone will give them a Mark Hamburger/Michael Hernandez-type in exchange for the Tigers picking up all of his remaining contract, but I suspect they'll end up waiving and releasing him.
Remarkable how his star has fallen...a few years ago, he was one of those guys that fans (Rangers fans in particular) identified as the type of young ace starter a team should be willing to sell the farm to get.
Now, he'll be out of a job and looking to catch on somewhere on a minor league deal.
