Rangers auction down to two bidders

New, 339 comments

Per Bob Nightengale, the Fox has dropped out of the bidding for the Texas Rangers, as have Dennis Gilbert and Jeff Beck, meaning that there are just three bidders remaining:  the Greenberg/Ryan group, Mark Cuban, and Jim Crane.

And with Cuban and Crane supposedly considering combining forces to bid together, that means that we could just have two groups bidding tomorrow -- Greenberg/Ryan, and Cuban/Crane.

The Cuban/Crane partnership is particularly interesting since it would consist of two people who are each considered to be undesirable by MLB.  As Will Carroll just tweeted, this partnership would save Bud the trouble of telling them both "no."

UPDATE -- Crane will be acting as lead, in a group with Cuban's involvement, tomorrow.
