Sunday morning Rangers things

So, the big story so far this morning is Evan Grant's tweet about a website in the Dominican Republic reporting that the Rangers had agreed with Adrian Beltre on a 6 year, $96 million deal, followed by a subsequent tweet where he says a source says that there's no agreement there.

I liked the idea of Beltre on a short term, high annual salary deal.  I really don't like the idea of him on a 6 year, $96 million deal.

T.R. Sullivan has a 2011 season preview for the Rangers, and says point-blank that Michael Young "will be the Rangers' Opening Day third baseman," which would mean no Beltre.

Richard Durrett has a blog post about the A.L. West and Ranger-related items in Buster Olney's "32 Things to Look for in 2011."

Meanwhile, former Ranger minor league pitcher Alfredo Simon is suspected of murder in the Dominican Republic.
