C.J. Wilson responds to Lance Berkman comments

As I mentioned yesterday morning, Lance Berkman had some somewhat critical things to say about the Texas Rangers in an interview on 1560 The Game on Thursday.

Richard Durrett has a piece up about it, including some quotes from C.J. Wilson, who responded to Berkman's comments as part of an interview with Ben and Skin today.

Given that C.J. Wilson and Colby Lewis were the team's top non-Cliff Lee pitchers in 2010, and given that Berkman specifically said "they had some guys that I felt like were pitching better than their talent level," it doesn't seem unreasonable to me to read that as Berkman taking a shot specifically at C.J. and Colbyashi.

Its kind of funny to me that Berkman would say the Rangers, who won 90 games last season, will be an "average" team, while the Cardinals, who won 86 games in 2010 and whose big offseason moves have been adding Berkman and former Ranger Gerald Laird, are apparently a powerhouse worthy of his talents.

I'm also wondering if anyone outside of Houston would have taken note of this interview had I not talked about it in my morning post here.  AJM, stirring up controversy...
