Thursday a.m. Rangers stuff

Word is that MLB is expected to say sometime today who had the winning bid for Yu Darvish, with the Rangers, Yankees, Cubs, and Blue Jays all submitting bids, according to Jim Bowden.

Jeff Wilson says the Rangers were giving "mixed signals" yesterday about their involvement in the Yu Darvish bidding, with Nolan Ryan meeting with Bob Simpson and Ray Davis, Jon Daniels disappearing during the media luncheon yesterday, and Thad Levine not answering questions.

Gerry Fraley says the Rangers are focusing on Derek Holland, not Darvish, with the team discussing a five year extension with Holland.

Drew Davison's notes include quotes from Ron Washington, Michael Young and David Murphy about the Rangers feeling that they are the team to beat in the A.L. West, even with the Anaheim Angels' expensive offseason acquisitions.

Richard Durrett takes a look at the possibility of the Rangers acquiring John Danks from the Chicago White Sox.
