Saturday a.m. Rangers things

The winter meetings are just around the corner...expect lots of tweets of rumors and stories of talks going on about trades that probably won't ever happen...

I have a hard time remembering what the winter meetings were like before Twitter...

Anthony Andro has a story about the winter meetings starting, with Jon Daniels saying that the Rangers still want to bring C.J. Wilson back, and that the Rangers plan on filling their seemingly vacant centerfield job internally.

T.R. Sullivan has a piece on what the Rangers are looking for at the winter meetings, with the focus being bullpen help or a high-end starting pitcher. Sullivan mentions several pitchers that are available on the trade market, including A's lefty Gio Gonzalez, and it makes me wonder what the price for a Gonzalez/Bailey package would be.

Evan Grant has a piece on the Rangers hiring Tim Purpura as their new director of player development, and promoting Jayce Tingler to minor league field coordinator.

Jeff Wilson's notes talk about the addition of Purpura and the Rangers signing three minor league free agents.
