The Texas Rangers have made a series of roster moves today.

As expected, Mason Tobin has been placed on the 15 day disabled list after being pulled from yesterday's game with a sore elbow.

Michael Kirkman, meanwhile, has been optioned to AAA.

To replace those two, the Rangers have purchased the contract of Brett Tomko, who will have to be added to the 40 man roster.  Presumably, Wilmer Font or Brandon Webb will go to the 60 day d.l. in order to make room for him.

In addition, Taylor Teagarden has been recalled from AAA.  The Rangers now have Teagarden as an option for a backup catcher, which allows Mike Napoli to play more at first base and at DH.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, and how much time Teagarden gets behind the plate in the coming weeks.  It will also be interesting to see how long Chris Davis will be up, since it seems like Teagarden being up means more possible playing time for Napoli at first base, which means less playing time for Davis (and, potentially, Julio Borbon).
