Per various reports on Twitter, Neftali Feliz has been activated from the disabled list today by the Texas Rangers, as expected.
In an unexpected move, the Rangers have optioned Taylor Teagarden to AAA to make room for him.
With Nelson Cruz still hurt, that leaves the Rangers with a two man bench.
Meanwhile, despite no reliever having pitched in the past two days, Texas will be going with an eight man bullpen again.
This is also despite the fact that only two teams in the A.L. have used their bullpen for fewer innings than the Rangers. The 80 1/3 innings pitched from the Texas pen trails only the Rays (77 1/3 innings) and Minnesota (78 innings).
I continue to struggle to understand why a bullpen would need Dave Bush, Brett Tomko, AND Ryan Tucker in it, and why the Rangers would be so fearful of the state of their pitching should they end up losing one of those guys from the organization. This move is baffling to me.
