Rangers sign Manny Delcarmen

The Texas Rangers have reportedly signed righthanded relief pitcher Manny Delcarmen to a minor league deal.

Delcarmen becomes the second reliever this season to opt out of a minor league deal with the Seattle Mariners and promptly sign a deal with Texas.  Delcarmen opted out of his deal with the M's yesterday, and Justin Miller had done so earlier last month.

Delcarmen is an interesting pick up...he was really, really good for the Red Sox out of the bullpen in 2007 and 2008, wasn't as good in 2009, and really struggled in 2010 while splitting time between Boston and the Rockies

Delcarmen had a 5.14 in 28 innings for the M's AAA club this year, with 23 Ks, 12 walks and 2 home runs allowed.

Given the problems in the Ranger bullpen, I would keep an eye on both Delcarmen and Miller in the next month or two.  Both are candidates to get a look at some point this summer.
