2011 MLB Draft -- Draft Day

Today is the the kickoff for MLB Draft 2011 -- the Major League Baseball Draft starts at 6 p.m. Central today, and will run through the first round and supplemental first round.

The Texas Rangers will be picking at #33 and #37.  You can see the complete draft order for today here.

Keith Law has an updated mock draft up, that has the Rangers taking Travis Harrison, with Josh Bell still on the board and Brandon Nimmo going two picks earlier, to the Tampa Bay Rays.

Jonathan Mayo is reporting that the Pittsburgh Pirates will take UCLA pitcher Gerrit Cole with the #1 overall pick.

Mayo has his mock draft up here.  Mayo has the Rangers taking Tyler Beede, with Nimmo, Swihart, and Ross all off the board before Texas picks.

UPDATE -- Please note I've added several items since this was originally posted.

Jim Callis has an updated mock draft up, with Nimmo going to Texas at #33, and Swihart and Ross off the board before Texas picks.  If Bell, Osich, and Nimmo are all there at #33, that would be nice.

FanGraphs has a mock draft up, as well.  They have Texas taking Osich.

Kevin Goldstein has his final mock draft up.  He has the Rangers taking high school catcher Austin Hedges, with Bell, Nimmo, Ross, and Swihart all gone before they pick.  He also say Texas takes Bell if he's there.

Bryan Dolgin has a piece up talking to Kip Fagg and Don Welke about the draft.

Here's capsule write-ups of 40 of the top prospects in the draft.

As other mock drafts or info goes up, I will update this post.

At this point, I'd guess that the Rangers will take Josh Bell if he's on the board.

If Bell is off the board, then I'd have the Rangers taking Blake Swihart.

If Swihart is off the board, then I'd have the Rangers taking Brandon Nimmo.

If Nimmo is off the board, then I'd have the Rangers taking Travis Harrison or maybe Josh Osich.

But that's just a guess.
