Rangers reportedly close to signing Ronald Guzman

Per Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes, the Texas Rangers are reportedly close to signing 16 year old lefthanded outfielder Ronald Guzman from the Dominican Republic.

You can see video of Guzman below (hat tip to Jason Cole):

Baseball America projected Guzman to end up with the second-highest bonus of this year's July 2 class...however, the guy they had number one, Elier Hernandez, got only about 60% of the bonus that their #10 projected player, Nomar Mazara, reportedly is receiving from the Rangers today.

Guzman, like Mazara, throws and hits lefthanded, and BA says he has a below-average arm and below-average speed that, like Mazara, will likely limit him to left field. Like Mazara, he is seen as someone with above-average power potential, although BA says there are questions about his bat speed that have some scouts concerned.

Guzman is 6'4" and 195 lbs., and gets high marks for makeup and instinct, according to BA.

UPDATE -- Internet reports have the bonus for Guzman anywhere from $3 million to $3.5 million.
