Friday a.m. Rangers stuff

The lead is now up to 3.5 games with 12 games to go (the Angels have 13), thanks to a surprisingly strong performance by Alexi Ogando last night and another big night from the bats.  The Rangers outscored the Indians 26-9 in sweeping the three game series.

Drew Davison's game story talks about Ogando getting back on track and throwing six shutout innings after a ridiculous 39 pitch second inning that saw him get very close to being lifted for Scott Feldman, who was warming in the bullpen.

Louie Horvath's game story says Ogando showed his early season form yesterday.

Anthony Andro writes that Ogando looked like an All Star last night.

Randy Jennings has his reactions to last night's game at the ESPN Dallas blog.

Behind the paywall, Gerry Fraley says Ogando's performance saved him from a potential demotion to the bullpen.

The Ranger website notes have quotes from Ron Washington praising Craig Gentry, stuff on Adrian Beltre's hamstring, and Derek Holland's maturation process.

The S-T's notes talk about Nelson Cruz returning to the starting lineup as a DH this weekend and Mike Napoli's recent stretch of working behind the plate when Derek Holland started.

David Thomas has a piece on the remarkable success Ian Kinsler and Craig Gentry have had stealing bases this year.
