A 7-2 win yesterday means the Rangers took 2 of 3 from Tampa in the series, while the Angels split a 4 game set at Seattle.  The result?  A 3.5 game lead for Texas in the A.L. West.

Having this cushion is a big deal with the upcoming schedule disparity, the Rangers playing three at Boston and then three at Tampa while Anaheim has three at home against Minnesota and three at home against Seattle.

Drew Davison's game story talks about C.J. Wilson's flirting with a no-hitter, which ended when Casey Kotchman led off the sixth inning with a hard chopper off the middle that C.J. tried to barehand.  Wilson ended up leaving the game in the 7th, in part due to the injury to his finger, although he apparently is fine.

Louie Horvath's game story has C.J. saying that he'll second-guess the Kotchman at bat for the rest of his life.

Randy Galloway has a column on C.J. Wilson's effort and the Rangers' attempt to leave the Angels behind in the West.

Anthony Andro has a story on the additions of Matt Treanor and Mike Gonzalez to the organization.

The S-T has a piece on the additions to the bullpen with the September 1 roster expansion.

The Rangers' website notes has quote from Ron Washington about Ian Kinsler's low average and the Rangers adding new members to the active roster.

The S-T's notes talks about the rotation plans, with Matt Harrison and Alexi Ogando each still scheduled to make their respective starts on Sunday and Monday, along with the return of Matt Treanor and Adrian Beltre.
