Toughest remaining road trip update: 2-1 with a season series clinching road series win in Boston over a Red Sox team that outscored the Rangers 30-11 in Arlington a week and a half ago. The Rangers outscored the Red Sox 28-16 in Fenway. It was a good weekend.
T.R. Sullivan's game story can be summed up by this Josh Hamilton quote therein:
"Doesn't it seem like when we play each other somebody wears the other out?" Hamilton said. "It seems like it's always a blow out. I don't think I've seen a close game against them this year."
The Rangers came out on top in 6 of 10 of those games this season.
Richard Durrett has a wealth of post game notes for you to check out. All of them are fun.
Evan Grant writes behind the DMN paywall about Matt Harrison's solid outing after being skipped in the rotation to rest.
MLB.com's Mike Bauman examines the Rangers/Red Sox series and writes that the Rangers came out ahead because of its young starting pitching. And the "Rangers can beat any team when they're pitching well" stories are back!
Adrian Beltre collected his 2,000th hit in yesterday's game. Richard Durrett writes about it and Chuck Morgan stopped by yesterday to let us know that the Rangers will display a banner honoring Beltre's achievement in the same way they did for Michael Young because the Rangers are good people.
Jeff Wilson has some notes including one on Beltre probably DHing for a good portion of this upcoming series in Tampa because of the unusual turf and Beltre's tentative health. Wilson also notes that Nelson Cruz has begun rehabbing his hamstring and how David Murphy has responded to taking Cruz's playing time. (Hint: Well. He's responded well.)
Sullivan's Rangers notes include how if the big league club makes the postseason, only the Class A Spokane Indians will not among every team in the Rangers' system. Also, Josh Hamilton explains why he keeps throwing his baseball bat at people.
Among other things to nitpick Josh Hamilton about, Grant updates how Hamilton has performed in day games since trying out a new method to relax his eyes.
Grant also takes a look Mitch Moreland's second half streakiness among other notes.
David Schoenfield writes about unsung heroes in baseball this season. Mike Napoli is named team captain. There are three former Rangers listed, as well.
Finally, since there will be no Series Preview because the game starts in like an hour, here are the match-ups at least:

Tuesday September 6 6:10: LHP C.J. Wilson vs. RHP Jeff Niemann
