Friday morning Rangers stuff

The Rangers kick off a three games series at home against the Oakland A's, while Anaheim has a three game series at home against the New York Yankees.  You'd like to see Texas pick up a game over the weekend, but as long as they can at least maintain their lead over the Angels, you have to feel okay about things.

Drew Davison has a story on the stretch run, saying that the Rangers' success against the West -- they are 28-14 against their division rivals this year -- bodes well, since, other than three games against the Indians, they play the A.L. West the rest of the way.

Anthony Andro calls this a "pivotal" weekend for the Rangers.

Louie Horvath has a story on the Rangers' website about Steve Buechele paying his dues as a minor league manager.

Joey Matches sings the praises of Derek Holland over at BBTiA.

Richard Durrett writes that Ian Kinsler has become a great defender at second base.
