The Baseball America top 20 prospect lists for the minor leagues continue to roll out, and the Rangers have representatives appearing in each of the full-season A ball lists for the leagues where the Rangers have an affiliate.
BA's top 20 list for the high-A Carolina League includes three Ranger prospects in the top 20 -- four if you count third baseman Christian Villanueva, who was traded by the Rangers to the Chicago Cubs in July as part of the Ryan Dempster trade.
Righthanded pitcher Cody Buckel was #5 on the BA list, with Villanueva checking in at #9, shortstop Hanser Alberto appearing at #12, and righthander Luke Jackson coming in at #16.
The Hickory Crawdads are the Rangers' affiliate in the low-A South Atlantic League, and the Hickory team wasn't as strong, prospect-wise, as it has been the previous couple of seasons. However, the BA Top 20 list for the Sally League did include a Ranger in its ranks -- second baseman Rougned Odor, who came in at #20 on the list.
