The offseason is boring.
Jeff Wilson has a story about the Rangers and Padres playing a pair of exhibition games at the Alamodome, part of their effort to improve their visibility in San Antonio, with Reid Ryan noting they will be shown all season long there on FSSW (since the Astros are moving to their new Comcast channel). The Padres' AA team is the San Antonio Missions of the Texas League, which is why they'd play there.
T.R. Sullivan also has a story about the Rangers playing in the Alamodome.
And although Torii Hunter was supposed to meet with the Rangers (a meeting that was cancelled when he signed with Detroit), he apparently wasn't interested in signing with Texas:
“I know talent; I know what team wants to win,” Hunter told reporters during an introductory news conference on Friday. “I know what team’s going to win. I see the Tigers winning in 2013.”
* * *
“Really, I didn’t want to play with anybody else,” Hunter said. “I just wanted to play with the Tigers.”
Apparently, the Rangers don't want to win. Just like he didn't want to sign here last time he was a free agent because his son would get made fun of at school if he was a Ranger.
Richard Durrett is concerned that Rangers fans want to get rid of Michael Young, and is here to assure you that there's always room for Michael Young (and for Jello).
