Election Tuesday Morning Rangers Update

New, comments

By the end of the night we'll probably know who the President of the United States of America will be for the next four years but we probably won't know who will be the catcher for the Texas Rangers next season.

I hope you all get out and vote today if that's a thing you feel like doing. You can't vote for Dennis Kucinich this year, though, sadly.

Nate Silver thinks Obama should win easily thanks to polling in swing states favoring our incumbent President in a way that makes winning the electoral vote far easier for him. I tend to believe Silver since he predicted the Rays would go to the World Series that one time. (Note: Nate Silver did not predict the Rays would go to the World Series that one time but the Legend of Nate Silver must remain.) Of course, nothing that is ninety-ish percent likely is a guarantee. Just ask the October Texas Rangers.

Richard Durrett updated his Top Ten Moments series too late yesterday to be included in the links yesterday morning so today you get two of the top ten. That's 20% of the entire series in one day! Up first at No. 5 is Josh Hamilton hitting four home runs against the Baltimore Orioles on May 8. At No. 4 Durrett writes about that glorious evening when Yu Darvish agreed to terms with the Rangers on Jan. 18. Those were both pretty cool moments.

T.R. Sullivan notes that Adrian Beltre has been named the Rangers' top defender for something called the "Wilson Defensive Players of the Year" and also Joey Gallo was named the 2012 Topps/Minor League Baseball Player of the Year in the Arizona Rookie League.

Gerry Fraley has a blog post about the Rangers doing their due diligence on Korean pitcher Ryu Hyun-jin who was posted on Friday and another on how Japanese free agent reliever Kyuji Fujikawa is on the Rangers' radar.

Finally, Dayn Perry and friends predicted where a bunch of the top free agents will land this offseason and not a single one predicts the Rangers will sign any of them. The majority here thinks Josh Hamilton will end up in Detroit or Milwaukee, Zack Greinke will go to one of the LAs, and B.J. Upton is bound for Philadelphia.
