Happy birthday, Dock Ellis

Happy birthday to former Ranger pitcher Dock Ellis, who passed away in December, 2008. Ellis would have been 67 today.

Ellis spent most of his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, but was acquired by the Rangers in June, 1977, and was a key contributor in the rotation for a 94 win Ranger team that year. Ellis struggled in 1978 and 1979, however, and was ultimately sent to the New York Mets in June of 1979. The Mets sold Ellis to the Pirates in September, 1979, allowing him to finish his career where it started.

Ellis is most famously known for supposedly pitching a no-hitter on LSD.
