Tuesday Morning Rangers Update

Larry Millson of MLB.com's game story focus on Yu Darvish being electric last night.

Richard Durrett offers his Rapid Reaction notes on the Rangers' 4-1 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.

Evan Grant has some observations on the win last night. Among the notes are some pretty nice indicators on just how great the Rangers' bullpen has been so far this season. For example:

Astonishing is that Ogando and Adams and, on occasion, the walk-less RHP Koji Uehara, comprise the Rangers' seventh -and-eighth inning relief corps. Together, they've not allowed a walk in 28.1 innings this season.

Drew Davison recaps last night's game by writing about the Blue Jays getting a firsthand look at what they missed out on by not winning the posting for Darvish.

Davison also has some wrap-up notes on the game. One discouraging note is the Rangers may consider sitting Adrian Beltre tonight after he had difficulty on the turf with a still sore hamstring.

Durrett has a piece pondering if this is the Yu Darvish we can expect to see for the rest of the season. On one hand, there's going to be games where Darvish gives up runs and people will wonder, "What's up with Darvish?" but on the other hand, I don't think we've even seen the best from Darvish yet--what with his fastball command still a work in progress--and that's sort of deliciously scary.

Behind the DMN paywall, Grant writes that it's uncertain just how good Darvish will be, but at the very least, we're seeing his elite potential begin to translate to this league.

Davison writes about the Rangers having a late flight to Toronto and the rigors of travel in the majors. Mike Adams and Mike Napoli spoke to the difficulty of arriving in a city at 5:30 am while having to perform that night. Elvis Andrus had this to say on the subject, however:

"I slept from 5:40 a.m. until 3 p.m. so I'm OK. I didn't sleep at all on the plane, though. I was watching movies and eating candy."

Jon Paul Morosi is the latest to write a love letter to the Rangers, calling them "best in show." Morosi concludes by noting the Rangers are only two games back of the pace set by the 2001 Seattle Mariners.

Grant has a blog post up about how, now that Mike Trout and Bryce Harper have been called up to the big leagues, the Rangers have the three youngest prospects at the top three highest levels of the minor leagues.

Millson has a Notebook post up which updates on Josh Hamilton's back issue, Beltre being unsure if he'll play at third at all during this series in Toronto, and Neftali Feliz getting his first start since April 21.

Finally, Davison also has a notes piece up covering similar topics, and a bunch of other ones, including one on Ian Kinsler setting a record for most runs scored by a Ranger in April with 24.
