And the hits just keep on coming...
John Blake just tweeted that Josh Hamilton has been hospitalized with an intestinal virus. Leonys Martin has been called up from Round Rock, and to make room for him on the 25 man roster, Koji Uehara has been put on the disabled list.
Uehara was going to the disabled list anyway tomorrow, to make room for Justin Grimm, who will be brought up to start Saturday's game. Martin gives the Rangers another healthy centerfielder while Hamilton is waylaid, as without Hamilton, Craig Gentry is the only centerfielder available. If Hamilton is going to miss time over the weekend, as well, I would expect to see Yoshinori Tateyama optioned on Saturday to make room for Grimm, so that Martin can stay with the team until Hamilton is better.
Martin has a .344/414/.547 line in 31 games for AAA Round Rock this year. He missed significant time earlier in the season after thumb surgery, and has been re-activated for just a week.
