Well, the Rangers have lost 5 in a row, but the Angels lost last night as well, meaning that the Rangers are still up 4 games in the A.L. West. And Derek Holland returns to the rotation tonight, likely taking the place of Martin Perez, who pitched well in last night's loss, but who is likely being optioned to make room for Holland on the active roster.

Jeff Wilson's game story talks about the errors and the offensive struggles that have been the hallmark of the Rangers' slump.

Anthony Andro notes in his game story that the Rangers have scored just 9 runs during their 5 game losing streak.

The game story from the Rangers' website talks about the Rangers being unable to figure out Francisco Liriano.

Richard Durrett has his "Rapid Reaction" at the ESPN Dallas blog.

Josh Hamilton left last night's game with back spasms after committing a three base error in the fifth inning, but says he's not worried about them and expects to play in the All Star Game.

Richard Durrett writes that Mike Napoli (and the rest of the offense) is looking for some consistency right now. Napoli has 84 strikeouts this season, after having 85 all of 2011.

Evan Grant writes that Ron Washington is going to stick with the struggling hitters.

David Collier has a lengthy piece at ESPN Dallas on Mike Olt, with quotes from Tim Purpura about how Olt was the unanimous choice by those in the organization as the player who would be called up if the Rangers needed a third baseman or a first baseman. Evan Grant says the Rangers are considering promoting Olt to AAA after the Futures Game.

Bernie Plesikoff has a piece at mlb.com about Leonys Martin, and his progressing towards being the Rangers' leadoff hitter of the future.

The S-T's notes have injury updates and quotes from Ron Washington about how he is going to keep running Nelson Cruz, Mike Napoli, and Michael Young out there despite their slumps. And realistically, I don't know what else Washington can do...it isn't as if the bench, or AAA, is loaded with viable options to replace any of those guys.

The Rangers' website notes talk about Colby Lewis's imminent return, Mike Olt playing some outfield, Derek Holland coming off the disabled list, and Mitch Moreland's situation.
