That could have gone better last night. Texas loses, Oakland won, the Magic Number stays at three, and the lead in the A.L. West stays at three.

Jeff Wilson's game story talks about the A.L. West title being there and available for the taking for the Rangers, and has quotes from Ryan Dempster about his outing, which was not one of his better ones.

T.R. Sullivan's game story has quotes from players about not taking things for granted, playing one game at a time, and the like.

Evan Grant has his thoughts from last night's game, and in particular, takes Adrian Beltre and Nelson Cruz to task for making outs on the basepaths. I didn't have a problem with the decision either player made in trying to get to second last night, for what its worth.

Richard Durrett has his Rapid Reaction at the ESPN Dallas blog.

Gil Lebreton has a column about the Angels trying to come from behind to get a Wild Card spot, and the "what if" game they are playing while looking back at their poor start to the season.

Anthony Andro has a story about Mike Adams being shutdown for the weekend and undergoing an MRI.

The S-T's notes talk about Mike Adams' injury, Yu Darvish being ready to start on Sunday, and the last minute decision to have Geovany Soto catch Ryan Dempster.

Sullivan's notes talk about Adams, Darvish, Matt Harrison winning 18, Koji Uehara's success, Mike Olt trying to get healthy, and Mitch Moreland sitting last night.
