With the end of the minor league season upon us, mlb.com is rolling out their updated top 100 prospect list and their updated top 20 team prospect lists.
The top 100 list can be found here, and Jurickson Profar is #1. Dylan Bundy, Manny Machado, Wil Myers, and Taijuan Walker round out the top 5. I've suggested before that I'd strongly consider a Profar for Myers swap if you could lock up Elvis Andrus long-term.
Other Rangers in the top 100 include Mike Olt, who is at #17, Martin Perez, who is at #50, and Cody Buckel, who is at #96.
The Rangers' top 20 prospect list is here, and while the top four -- Profar, Olt, Perez and Buckel -- are no surprise, there are a couple of idiosyncratic picks in the top 10, with Wilmer Font checking in at #6 and Luis Sardinas at #7. Everyone who is in mlb's top 20 Rangers list is also in our mid-season top 25 list, except for Nicholas Tepesch, who checks in at #19.
And for those who are wondering, Leonys Martin spent more than 45 days on the active roster this year before rosters expanded, so he no longer has rookie eligibility and thus is no longer eligible for this prospect list.
I've also got a poll, where you can offer your thoughts on whose placement surprised you the most, be it surprisingly high or surprisingly low. Cast your vote...
