Chad Hawkins, one of the Rangers' first round picks in the 2000 draft, has been arrested.
The link has the details, but apparently, Hawkins was an assistant coach and a history teacher at Arlington Heights, and was caught making out with a 16 year old female student in his car a week ago.
Hawkins was a righthanded pitcher drafted out of Baylor, and had his career de-railed by shoulder problems. He last pitched professionally for the Rangers' high-A affiliate in 2002. Interestingly, he also had a run-in with the law in 2002, according to the article:
Hawkins has had legal problems in the past, according to Tarrant County criminal court records. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and making a terroristic threat in January 2002 in Euless. He was sentenced to two years probation for the DWI charge and the othe charge was dismissed as part of a plea bargain, according to the records.
