Rangers season opener moved to March 31

The Rangers and Astros will play the first game of the MLB season, kicking off the year on March 31, 2013, on Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN

Jim Cowsert-US PRESSWIRE

The first game of the season for the Texas Rangers was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in Houston.

That has now changed, as the Rangers and Astros will kick off the season at Minute Maid Park by playing the first game of the MLB season on Sunday, March 31, 2013.

Tuesday's game, originally scheduled to be the first game of the year for the Rangers and Astros, will instead be Game 2, and Wednesday, April 3, 2013 -- when we are having our LSB Invades Minute Maid Park event -- will be Game 3 of the season.

The Rangers will now be off on Thursday, April 4, 2013, as that game has essentially been moved to March 31. That means that, rather than playing 13 games in a row to start the season, as the schedule originally provided for, the Rangers will have two off days in their first five days.

Also, this is as good a time as any to remind folks that there are still tickets available to hang out with your fellow LSB peeps on April 3, 2013, at Coke Corner at Minute Maid Park. I'll be there, along with Bradstick, goET, Ben Morris, Jason Parks, Jason Cole, Tepid Participation, and others. Tickets are $40 per person -- if you want a ticket, send your money via PayPal to adamjmorris at gmail dot com, along with your real name and your LSB user name.
