Sunday morning Rangers stuff

Sunday morning Rangers news and links

Tom Pennington

Happy Sunday, everyone.

Jeff Wilson has an article on the Rangers' group of free agents, with the particular focus on Nelson Cruz, whose desire for a multi-year contract is going to be complicated by the Rangers likely making him a qualifying offer and the Biogenesis cloud hanging over him.  Wilson predicts that Cruz, Joe Nathan, Jason Frasor, Geovany Soto, and Colby Lewis all return to the Rangers in 2014.

Evan Grant has a piece at the DMN about the various possibilities for the Rangers to fill the holes they currently have at first base, left field, catcher, and DH.  Brian McCann features prominently, with Grant suggesting he will command $15M per year in his new deal, and Michael Young makes a cameo at the end as a DH option.  With a .278/.322/.381 line over the last two years, I can't imagine that the Rangers would be interested in making him their DH.

And...that appears to be in this morning.
