Rangers claim RHP Chaz Roe on waivers from Arizona

The Rangers have claimed righthanded pitcher Chaz Roe on waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sport

The Rangers have claimed righthanded pitcher Chaz Roe off of waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Roe, 27, was a supplemental first round pick of the Colorado Rockies in the 2005 draft, going 13 spots after the Rangers drafted John Mayberry, Jr., and 2 spots before future Ranger waiver claim Ryan Tucker.

Roe has had an interesting journey, getting dealt in December, 2010, to Seattle for Jose Lopez, becoming a minor league free agent after a 2011 season which saw him post a 6.59 ERA in 99.2 innings for the M's AAA affiliate in Tacoma, and then get signed by the Diamondbacks after spending the 2012 season pitching for Laredo in the Independent Leagues.

Roe had a 1.11 ERA in 24.1 innings in the minors this year, mostly for Reno, walking 4 batters, striking out 23, and not allowing a home run.  In the majors, Roe pitched 22.1 innings for the D-Backs, with a 4.03 ERA, 24 Ks, 13 walks (3 intentional), and 3 homers allowed in 21 relief appearances.

Roe has, I believe, all three options remaining, and appears to be someone Texas is claiming for AAA pitching depth.
