Saturday morning Rangers news and links

USA TODAY Sports

Morning everybody.

Joe Nathan opted to void his 2014 club option yesterday, meaning that he's a free agent, and most likely will not return to Texas next year.

T.R. Sullivan has a story at the Rangers' website on Nathan becoming a free agent, and the Rangers' plans on replacing him as their closer for 2014.

Evan Grant has a blog post about Nathan becoming a free agent, with Jon Daniels saying they told Nathan's agent that, if he didn't opt out, they'd be looking at dealing some of their bullpen depth (with the implication being Nathan could be the guy dealt).

Anthony Andro has a story on Bobby Jones joining the Rangers' major league coaching staff for next season.

Richard Durrett has a blog post looking at the Rangers' internal options for closer in 2014, now that Joe Nathan is a free agent.

Jeff Wilson has a piece with some notes on Joe Nathan becoming a free agent, Bobby Jones joining the Rangers coaching staff, and the Rangers claiming Chaz Roe on waivers.

Sullivan has an item on the Rangers claiming Roe from the Diamondbacks.
