The Detroit Tigers are sending the Texas Rangers $30 million as part of the trade sending Prince Fielder to Texas for Ian Kinsler, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports and Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Prince Fielder is owed $24 million per season from 2014 through 2020. With the $30 million subsidy, it means the Rangers are paying a hair under $20 million per year for Fielder, on average, and a total of $138 million over 7 years.
Ian Kinsler is owed $62 million over the next four years, or $67 million over the next five years.
