Anthony Andro says the Rangers needed to do something about the starting catcher job next year and that Geovany Soto is definitely something, and that Yu Darvish is one of three finalists for the Cy Young award.

Jeff Wilson quotes Jon Daniels as saying that he has found the Rangers' primary catcher for 2014. In unrelated news, Geovany Soto was signed for 2014.

T.R. Sullivan also has stories about Darvish's Cy Young bid and Geovany Soto.

Evan Grant says that this Geovany-Soto-primary-catcher talk paradoxically means that we are even more likely to sign Brian McCann, and that if we bring back both Soto and Pierzynski a McCann signing is almost inevitable.

Gerry Fraley has a list of the 17 organization players who became minor league free agents yesterday, including "meh" and "who cares."

Fraley also takes note of right hander Keone Kela, who got his second save in the Arizona Fall League yesterday.

Richard Durrett agrees with Evan Grant that the Geovany Soto signing doesn't preclude a McCann signing, though he doesn't go so far as to say it makes it more likely. Durrett also had a hot stove talk post, where he talks about who and who did not receive qualifying offers among other things.

Finally, fans of Memento will enjoy this animation of a woman with short-term memory loss describing her current life.
