Per Geoff Baker on Twitter, the Seattle Mariners have signed former Ranger pitcher to a minor league deal with an invite to the major league camp.
Loe was a 20th round draft pick of the Rangers in the 2002 draft, and spent parts of five seasons with the big league club, putting up a 4.77 ERA while splitting his time between the rotation and the bullpen.
Loe then spent the 2009 season in Japan after being released by the Rangers, didn't do well there, and then came back to the States, signed as a free agent with the Milwaukee Brewers, and spent the 2010-12 seasons as a key part of their bullpen, putting up a 3.67 ERA in 198.2 innings of relief.
Last year was Loe's weakest campaign as a Brewer -- he put up a 4.61 ERA in 68.1 innings, with his home run rate spiking -- and so the Brewers released him.
He seems to have a pretty decent shot of making the M's major league roster. And I always liked Loe, so I'll be rooting for him to do well.
