Keith Law of ESPN released his Top 100 list today, and in the aftermath of that, he did a chat session that you can check out here, that contains discussion of Jurickson Profar and Mike Olt, among others.
Jason Parks also did a chat at Baseball Prospectus today, which is worth checking out as well because it is chock full of stuff on Rangers prospects.
One of the comments from Parks, however, I wanted to highlight, as it relates to the future for Elvis Andrus and Jurickson Profar:
Justin (OK): Would you rather have Profar or Andrus?
Jason Parks: This is a very difficult question. The financial component simplifies it, as Profar is the much cheaper option going forward. Remove them money from the equation and ask me which player I think has the better all-around ml career and which player I would build a team around? For me, its Elvis. I think the bat keeps improving and he's a better defensive player than Profar. But.....Profar has more overall offensive potential and his glove is good enough to stay at shortstop for a long time. Despite being a Beatles man, I'm also an Elvis man.
I've said before that I think that, if Profar ends up being as good his first four years in the majors as Elvis has been his first four years in the majors, a lot of Rangers fans will be disappointed, which I think reflects unrealistic expectations for Profar.
But it also got me thinking that this would be a good poll question, so let me ask you, LSB reader, who do you think will end up having the better major league career -- Profar or Elvis?
