Nolan Ryan has issued a statement regarding his situation with the Rangers, which is set forth below in its entirety:
“Over the last week, Ray Davis, Bob Simpson, and I have been in discussion and met in-person. The conversations have been productive, and we have discussed my role as CEO of the organization. We agreed these discussions will continue as we go forward.
I am very proud of what the Rangers have accomplished over the last several years, and I believe our preparations for upcoming season are what is important.”
So, Ryan has finally spoken publicly, but Ryan hasn't really said anything, other than that he and the moneymen are talking, and nothing has been resolved yet.
If nothing else, the fact that Ryan has officially released a statement, is reassuring. The silence was becoming deafening, and the longer Ryan refused to say anything, the more it was coming across as a deliberate ploy.
This statement doesn't resolve anything, but it is at least an acknowledgement that there are discussions, and that's better than nothing.
