Reports on Twitter from the Rangers' beat writers indicate that Leury Garcia has apparently made the Rangers' Opening Day roster as the team's utility infielder.
Garcia, who turned 22 8 days ago, has a career .260/.309/.339 line in the minor leagues, including a .292/.337/.398 line in AA Frisco in 2012. While there are questions about whether he'll ever hit, he gets great reviews for his speed, baserunning and fielding, and the Rangers will likely use him primarily as a pinch runner and at shortstop.
Jeff Baker will probably get the bulk of the backup time at 1B, 2B and 3B.
