Matt Harrison's back has "not responded as hoped" to an anti-inflammatory injection he got last week, and he got a second injection yesterday, with his situation basically being on hold until he is re-examined this coming week.
Harrison, the Rangers' Opening Day starter, went on the disabled list with lower back issues, and it was hoped that he could return on April 22, when his fifteen days on the disabled list is up. However, as he is currently not throwing, and he required the second injection, it looks like an April 22 return isn't going to happen.
Justin Grimm replaced Harrison in the rotation once Harrison was d.l.'d. While Colby Lewis and Martin Perez are due back in May, the Rangers are having to scramble to help fill the rotation for now, with rookies Grimm and Nick Tepesch now forming 40% of the starting rotation.
