Over at Grantland, Jonah Keri has a piece that looks at the possibility of the Rangers and Cardinals doing the mother of all prospect challenge trades -- Jurickson Profar for Oscar Taveras.
Taveras, of course, is an outfielder considered one of the top two or three prospects in the game, and who is probably major league ready but has no obvious place to play in St. Louis. Profar, meanwhile, is the Rangers' stud shortstop prospect, a guy who could probably play every day in the majors but who, like Taveras, is blocked.
Keri walks through the reasons why such a move probably wouldn't be done by either team, and then looks at the Rangers' other possible choices in order deal with the logjam. Keri thinks that if you were to trade Ian Kinsler, you should expect significant value in return, but that dealing Profar for Giancarlo Stanton or David Price might be the best course of action.
I also am throwing out a poll for folks to vote on...would you like to see the Rangers trade Profar for Taveras? Cast your vote...
