Bill Shaikin has just tweeted that Angels manager Mike Scioscia has just informed reporters that Angels righthanded reliever Mark Lowe is going on the disabled list with neck stiffness.
Lowe, who came over to Texas from Seattle in the Cliff Lee trade in 2010 and who had two unimpressive seasons in the Ranger bullpen, was signed by the Dodgers this spring on a minor league deal, was then released by the Dodgers on March 24, and then was signed by the Angels on March 27 to supplement their bullpen.
Lowe has posted an 11.37 ERA for the Angels in 7 appearances spanning 6.1 innings, walking eight batters, striking out four, and allowing a home run. Infielder Tommy Field has been called up to replace Lowe.
