Rangers acquire Chirinos, DFA Beliveau

The Rangers have acquired catcher Robinson Chirinos from the Tampa Bay Rays. Chirinos was designated for assignment by the Rays on March 31. To make room for Chirinos on the 40 man roster, the Rangers have designated minor league left handed pitcher Jeff Beliveau for assignment.

Chrinos is someone the Rangers were close to acquiring from the Cubs two years ago, before he ended up being sent to Tampa as part of the Matt Garza deal.

Chirinos will presumably be sent to AAA.
