Remember how Jered Weaver left Sunday's game, after hitting the ground hard on his left arm ducking a Mitch Moreland line drive up the middle?
Well, the Angels have placed Weaver on the 15 day disabled list with a broken left elbow that is expected to keep him out from four to six weeks, with Dane De La Rosa being called up to take his place.
Weaver was already the subject of some concern, as his velocity was down in his first two starts. Now the Angels are losing Weaver altogether for at least a month. My guess is that Garrett Richards replaces Weaver in the rotation, and joins C.J. Wilson, Joe Blanton, Tommy Hanson and Jason Vargas in the Angels roto.
Starting rotation depth has been a concern for the Angels, who don't have much in their minor league system ready to supplement their five regular starters. Weaver was being counted on to head up a rotation that was not considered a team strength even before the injury.
