At least we can take the taste of yesterday's loss out of our mouths before it causes cavities because the Rangers play two in Arizona today.
Todd Wills has the Rapid Reaction to the Rangers' 4-3 13-inning bullpen-depleting loss to the Seattle Mariners.
T.R. Sullivan recaps the loss by noting the end of Joe Nathan's save streak. It was going to happen sooner or later, but it would have been nice to see Nathan finish that one off and save the bullpen a little for the doubleheader today. But alas, one bad mistake to Raul Ibanez put a couple of extra innings on the 'pen and an eventual L in the standings.
Jeff Wilson's recap focuses on the longest game of the Rangers' season thus far coming at the worst time with the Rangers having to play two today. Wilson notes that Neal Cotts won't be available and Tanner Scheppers and Nathan likely won't be either.
Behind the DMN paywall, Evan Grant writes more on today's Doubleheader Bullpenageddon in Arizona Pt. 1 & 2: Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Ross Wolf?
Also behind the DMN paywall, Tim Cowlishaw has this week's Yu Darvish is rad article. The Rangers are going to need Darvish to be rad tonight as I suspect that they are going to ride their ace.
Fox Sports' Shawn Ramsey writes about Adrian Beltre and Elvis Andrus being adorable.
Sullivan's Notebook paints Elvis as a menace, knave, troublemaker, agitator, pest, instigator, and provocateur to Beltre's demeanor as an indulging big brother. So: Adorable. There are also a bunch of other notes to regard.
Notes such as these from Wilson whom writes on Jurickson Profar's opening act feat, the Diamondback doubleheader, and Darvish's thoughts on Interleague play.
Joey Nowak of MLB.com previews Game 1 of today's doubleheader which will match young Martin Perez against young Tyler Skaggs. Game 2 will pit ace Darvish against ace-against-the-Rangers Trevor Cahill in a match-up from my nightmares.
Finally, your weekly DMN prospect update slideshow is here. Best news from the farm of the week: Nick Williams is back.
