Alexi Ogando, who was placed on the 15 day disabled list on May 16 with triceps soreness, made a rehab start for AA Frisco today. His performance suggests that he's ready to jump back into the Ranger rotation.
Ogando was scheduled to go 5 innings or 75 pitches, but because of his low pitch count, he ended up going 6 innings, needing just 60 pitches to do so. Ogando struck out 4 batters, walked no one, and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, both runs scoring in the 6th inning on a two run homer off of a hanging slider.
With the off-day on Monday, the Rangers don't need a fifth starter again until Saturday, but my guess is that Ogando will be activated in the middle of next week, allowing the Rangers starters to get an extra day of rest.
Meanwhile, Mike Olt, who also returned to action with Frisco today, struck out in his first two at bats, but then had a fly out to the left field wall in his third at bat, followed by a long home run in his fourth plate appearance.
