The Los Angeles Dodgers have suffered another significant blow, as shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who had just returned to the active roster after thumb surgery, left yesterday's game with a hamstring injury.

The Dodgers have placed Ramirez on the disabled list, and are recalling Dee Gordon from AAA to take his place.

This is the latest setback for the 29 year old Ramirez, who seemingly had established himself as one of the best players in baseball in his age 23-25 seasons. Since then, however, Ramirez has struggled with attitude problems, questions about his conditioning, a decline in performance, and injuries. Yesterday's game was just the fourth Ramirez had appeared in this season, and he will now likely be out for at least a month.

Gordon, 25, has generated excitement in some quarters because of his game-changing speed. However, he has a career .260/.299/.315 line in 563 career plate appearances, and is considered a liability defensively.
