In a procedural move, the Rangers have moved Michael Kirkman from the 15 day disabled list to the 60 day disabled list, and have activated Justin Miller from the 60 day disabled list and optioned him to AA Frisco.

Kirkman was placed on the 15 day disabled list earlier this week with a recurrence of skin cancer. This move means that Kirkman will not be eligible to return to the majors until mid-August.

Miller has been on a rehab assignment, first appearing for AA Frisco on May 17. Because a pitcher is limited to 30 days on a rehab stint, Miller was going to have to be activated in the next few days and returned to the 40 man roster. Putting Kirkman on the 60 day d.l. creates that roster spot.

This ultimately does not impact the status quo -- Kirkman is not pitching in the majors anytime soon, and Miller will continue to pitch for Frisco.
