Mike Olt being promoted to AAA Round Rock

After three games in Frisco, Mike Olt is returning to Round Rock

Third baseman Mike Olt started the season with AAA Round Rock, and then spent about a month on the disabled list before being activated and sent to AA Frisco on Friday.

After three games in Frisco the past three days, Olt is now returning to Round Rock, according to T.R. Sullivan.

Olt had a difficult spring and an awful start to the season before going on the d.l. with a vision problem that has now been addressed. Olt was 4 for 12 with a double, a pair of homers and 6 strikeouts for Frisco over the past three games. I suspect that the Rangers wanted Olt in Frisco to keep an eye on him during his initial return from the d.l., and now that he's shown that he's okay, he's heading back to the Pacific Coast League.

Olt is considered one of the Rangers' top position prospects, and is a candidate to get time on the major league level should the Rangers need someone who can play any of the four corner positions later in the year.
