Martin Perez recalled, Joe Ortiz optioned

The Rangers have announced that they have recalled Martin Perez from AAA Round Rock. Perez will start tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals.

To make room on the active roster for Perez, the Rangers have optioned pitcher Joe Ortiz to AAA.

Both these moves have been expected. The Rangers announced after Thursday's game that Perez would start tonight, and Ortiz, who had been called up to give the Rangers an extra arm in the bullpen, was the pitcher most folks anticipated would be sent down to make room for Perez.
