Per T.R. Sullivan, Rangers prospects Jorge Alfaro and Joey Gallo have been named to the World and U.S. Futures Games rosters, respectively.
The Futures Game, scheduled for July 14, 2013, at Citi Field, features some of the best minor league prospects in baseball playing an exhibition, with the players born in the U.S. on one team, and players born elsewhere from around the world on the other team.
Alfaro was named the #88 prospect in baseball by mlb.com prior to this season. The 20 year old catcher has a .261/.332/.444 line for low-A Hickory this season.
Gallo, a 19 year old third baseman, has gotten a lot of attention from prospect-philes because of his prodigious power, which led the Rangers to draft him 39th overall in the 2012 draft. He has a .240/.333/.564 line this season, and his 23 home runs are among the most in the minors this season.
In addition, you can vote from a total of ten finalists (five World, five U.S.) for the final spot on each team. Ranger infield prospect Rougned Odor is one of the five World team finalists.
