Colby Lewis pitched for AA Frisco against the San Antonio Missions tonight, making his third start on his current rehab stint, and went five innings in an outing that had positives and negatives.
Lewis struck out five batters, didn't walk anyone, and allowed three runs on four hits, including a first inning homer.
Scott Lucas was tweeting updates from the game, and said that after a rough first inning, which featured a double, a homer, and three hard hit fly outs, Lewis settled down and pitched fairly well. Lewis's velocity still isn't all the way back -- Scott said Lewis was at 86-91, and generally was pitching at 87-88 mph -- and it sounds like he still isn't major league ready yet.
However, this is progress, and it sounds like Lewis might be able, after a couple more rehab appearances, to re-join the rotation. Hopefully, there will still be a playoff race going on for the Rangers when Lewis is ready to return.
